Proposal for magazine

Proposal

Front cover
Target audience: Students

Content: General student issues and interests. E.g. Bullying, fashion, gossip, events, revision, etc.

Cover line ideas: Top revision tips. Font in blue as it’s a primary colour and will stand out with a white background. Many students will want to read about this as exams and good results are the primary reason they’re in college. It will appeal to the specific audience because not many other people apart from students will be interested.
What to wear this autumn.  Students are the age group most interested in fashion and want to keep up to date as it changes regularly and they don’t want to be left out.
All the best up and coming local gigs. Lot’s of students go to  gigs so this article may appeal if  they don’t already know the artists or if they want to know when the artists they like will be performing next. Will also want local gigs because they’re cheaper and students tend to struggle for money.

Title: StUdent or StUdent. The second option looks better but the first would suit a student magazine more as it looks more interesting. However, the cover lines are all in different colours which could mean red would dominate so I’m going to choose StUdent as the black will also contrast the white background and look good. The U is used to show how the magazine is aimed at the student and its content contains what they want and their needs. Also, they may be able to relate to it because it relates to text talk which many students may be able to relate to.

Font: A big bold font would be used. It needs to be clear and simple. The U in the title is capital and the rest is lower case apart from the starting letter S. A font similar to that of NME would be used, just not all in capitals.

StUdent  - The title will be in a font like this, and the cover lines will also use the same font, just obviously smaller.

Tagline: The freshest magazine for you the students. This will be in a much smaller font beneath the title of the magazine. It implies its purpose which is to benefit the students, and also includes some terminology they would be familiar with  in “freshest”.

Published: This specific copy will be released in October, not long after the students have settled in. Once they’ve settled into a college they can start to think of other issues which this magazine will cover like which gigs to go to or what to wear. These matters will not be on their mind once they’ve just started in September. As for revision tips, exam seasons seem a long way out but it’ll be important for the student to be prepared.
Main image: A normal student dressed well in light clothes. They will be looking at the camera. Their body will cover the first third of the cover and some of the second, their eyes will be in the crossing point of the camera sections. Also, the students’ hair will be sticking up and some of his hair will be covering a bit of the title. This leaves space for the rest of the magazine to be white and show all the cover lines without any clashes. The main cover line will be “Bullying Beaten”. Depending on the shirt worn by the student decides the colour. The possibilities are black, or purple.

Frequency: Monthly.

Dimensions: A5. If it seems the front cover is too crowded then A4.
